Morning vid: To You by Teen Top
If to disregard the group's name (when they inaugurated their fanclub, I was afraid it would be called Bottom. It turned out to be called Angel. Not much better, IMO) and the fact that "to you" sounds like "do you", it's a pretty song.

Immortal Song 2, ep. 52
I skipped ep. 51 'cos IMO it was the most boring episode to date. Today's episode was dedicated to Yoon Hang Ki & Yoon Bok Hee. The line-up included only 6 musicians: Im Taekyung, Ailee, ALi, Hong Kyungmin, Brown Eyed Soul's Sunghoon and the band No Brain.
Surprisingly enough, I have three favourites today. One is Hong Kyungmin who did a rock cover in his song. The sound is very Kyungmin, and frankly, I've been missing it.
Two are No Brain. I don't really like their song but I loved the performance. Mind that I've been watching it raw so I have no clue what it was about. Is it their goodbye to the show? Seems likely. But in any case, I loved the message, with the slide-show.
Three is ALi. I know, I know, she's my bias. But I'm never rooting for her just because, you know. She manages to impress me every time I pick her song. This time, I didn't even like it at first, but by the end I was very moved. By the performace. By the delivery. I have no idea what it was, with the letter. ( But still impressive, even if I wouldn't want to listen to it in my player )

I think I want to learn this song
Not that I'm in any way close to singing songs yet. My vocal exercises are just beginning to sound decent enough not to despair. But I think "city romance" (I'm not sure this sub-genre exists beyond Russia?) would suit my voice.

Morning vid: Bounce by JJ Project
JYP has debuted a boy group. Or rather, a duo consisting of Jr and JB. The debut song is rather 2PMish (like some rejects from the last 2PM's album, between Hands Up and Electricity), as much as BTOB's debut was Beast-y. But I like the song and the vid (and even choreo elements). Cudos for debuting a duo, too.

Morning vid: Hard to Be Humble by Leessang
My absolutely favourite Korean hip-hoppers Leessang have released a song as a pre-release before their new album, Unplugged, that will be out a but later this month. The song is a remake of the original song by Cho Young Nam. Any vid with the kids is gonna be cute but this one is amusing too because of what the kids do :)

Baek Jiyoung's album is out. Good Boy sounds more like girlgroup songs of the last year or two than what I expected from her. And she looks like a fem!Seungho :)
From the release note: "Baek Ji Young, the queen of ballads, is making her comeback with, surprisingly, a dance song as the title. This will be her first dance song being released in an album in three years, since her mini-album "EGO" released in August of 2009 containing "Candy to my Ear".

Weird and sad dream about JYP

I had a very weird dream last night about this guy on the left. I dreamed that he, Park Jin-young, died. The news about it appeared in some k-pop blog about 2 am, then there was a delay 'cos the information didn't appear anywhere else and I thought it was a cruel joke, but after an hour or two, it spread like a fire. Even though there were no details, the implication was that it wasn't an accident or a killing; it looked like a death from a natural cause.
It all felt absolutely real. I couldn't believe it at first, then the feeling of upset and disbelieving sadness set in. While I surfed the net in search of some details, I had the following thoughts running in my head: 1) I saw him on TV just yesterday. He had just released a new album a week ago and had been promoting in various shows like mad: on Running Man, as a guest of honour in Immortal Song, on some talk shows too. He looked very lively and healthy. 2) I hasn't interviewed him. And now I can't. (He's one of the very few Korean entertainers with whom I would love to do a large interview.) 3) What will happen to 2PM now?
We have a superstition that if you dream that somebody died, it means they will live long. Hope so, hope so. Long live the fascinating and not a little scary freak. |

Morning vid: Tarantallegra by Xia Junsu
The first of JYJs has released a solo album. Go Junsu, of course, but did he have to use voice processing? 'Cos if Junsu using autotune isn't a crime, I don't know what is. The album is called Tarantallegra :) My fandoms collide, BANG!
Does it sound too Juno to you, guys?
Also, this vid is so deliberately sexy that it's having an opposite effect on me. I think Junsu is quite sexy as is, in everyday clothes -- well, everyday idol clothes -- and without a bared stomach or excessive make-up. IMO he doesn't have a front page complextion either. When it's so overdone, I find a thought "freak show" circling around in my brain rather than thinking "sexy." But overall, I like both the vid and the song, I think. Will need to listen to it another ten times to make sure though.

Evening vid: The Only Love by Sung Sikyung
Cleaning after redecorating. Is hell. It seems I've been on all fours all day long and my hands hurt :(
But on an optimistic note, I have a new ballad love. Name's Sung Sikyung, the man with the smoothest, softest (but still strong) voice ever. I've posted a ballad of his before. My problem with him is that he's like an ideal lullaby. He's very pleasant to listen to and to look at but his ballads usually have no hook at all. They are smooth enough to put you to sleep by the middle. But I still lurve him :)

Immortal Song 2, ep. 50 (JYP)
Immortal Song 2 aired ep. 50 today. The theme was Park Jin-young's songs (JYP), those he sang himself and those he wrote for others. This is a two-part episode, so today we only saw part 1, in which the following performed: Lyn, 4Men's Shin Yongjae, Teen Top (their lead singer Niel, and also C.A.P and Changjo), Brown Eyed Soul's Sunghoon, ALi, and Huh Gak who hasn't been on the show for some time.
There wasn't a cover this time that impressed me for real. I think what Yongjae did with 2AM's song he covered was an atrocity, i.e. he made a good ballad sound very flat and ordinary. Huh Gak, on the contrary, made his ballad sound lovely -- but not enough for me to want to save it. I hope Teen Top will stay for several more episodes 'cos, althought I didn't like this song of theirs, they did look very confident and I like Niel a lot. My pick is going to be ALi whose performance was pretty weird.
